The Anti-Superhuman Society, is an organization and political party centered in Weathermerry. Their primary objective is to remove superheroes from society as a whole, and create strict rules in regard to how those with superhuman powers function in the world. Unfortunately though, this particular faction has been considered something of a joke in the community, primarily due to their lack of passionate members, or a large following. None the less, the leader, Edward Kimpel is determined to make sure superhumans are eliminated.
Origins And History:[]
The Anti-Superhuman society was created in Weathermerry after the release of a book entitled, "Debauchment Of The Guiltless", which was an extensive character assassination on superhero society and why it was the route of all corruption in the world. Many people regarded this book as nothing more but immature drivel created by a bitter individual, however one particular individual, disheartened politician Edward Kimpel, took it to heart. Edward never liked superheroes, he considered them to be an immense liability and childish, however since the majority of the city was founded on superheroes, he was somewhat alone in his beliefs. However upon reading the book, he realized that someone else shared his beliefs, and realized that if one person did, then there must be more. It was at that moment, he gathered many of his political allies and founded the Anti-Superhuman Society.
For many months, the organization hardly got any attention, and was often ridiculed because of it's clueless members. However, after the events of the Weathermerry Massacre, in which Jaeger had killed many superheroes and destroyed nearly the whole of the city. Edward had remarked on how the city was destroyed because of the actions of a superhuman, and that the superheroes weren't there to protect them. It was at the point, that Edward decided to capitalize on this event in order to gain more traction, where he delivered a speech that would forever change things.
"My friends...What has this world become? Back in simpler times, what would humans do when faced with a problem that seemed unsolvable? Did we cower? Did we revel in our own powerlessness and wait for a being greater than ourselves to take control? Of course not! We persevered! And against insurmountable, we never failed to solve a problem with nothing but our sheer will! And yet...today, there is a threat of the most vile kind, seeking to reject the human spirit, treating us like helpless animals...And my friends...We all know what that threat is...Superheroes...They claim to stand against the forces of evil, vowing to protect humankind...And yet...they are too arrogant...to disgustingly self absorbed to realize that they themselves are the very thing they stand against! How many buildings are destroyed during a superhero showdown? How many structures built upon nothing but effort, hard work and endless care are destroyed as though they are nothing, my friends, how many LIVES are destroyed as though they were nothing!? These...Heroes...They fester in every corner of the world, on the screens of television, of the pages of a book...in our very minds themselves...Corrupting them! Seeking to make them as vile and twisted as the themselves! Enforcing their absurd rule! Threatening us with their unnatural abilities! Treating humans as though we are incapable of defending ourselves! Well I say no more...We will no longer hide ourselves in fear as we let these madman take control! Because my friends...We are not just fighting against these superheroes...We are fighting for humanity itself! its spirit! Its determination! It's unrestricted strength! That is who we are! And that is what we stand for! And we will never let these maniacs take that away from us!"
It was at that point that the Anti-Superhuman Society gained immense notoriety, their views began to reach the rest of the world and their power expanded. Edward was more than willing to use underhanded tactics in order to advance his group, even allowing former super criminals to join them. Eventually in the near future, the Anti-Superhuman Society would create the Super-Hunters with the aid of a few supervillains. Unfortunately though, Edward became mad with power and didn't account for how dangerous they were, and all of humanity would of perished at the hands of the Super-Hunters, had this particular timeline not been prevented due to the aid of a few time-travelling superheroes.
These particular heroes had prevented the release of the book that inspired Edward to create the Anti-Superhuman Society, preventing the creation of the Super-Hunters and the society gaining power. Unfortunately though, the Anti-Superhuman Society was still founded by Edward a few months after the events of the Weathermerry Massacre, luckily though, the society wasn't nearly as popular as it was before, and many considered the Anti-Superhuman Society being created in response to the incident as disrespectful, and an insult to the heroes that lost their lives trying to save them. To this day, the Anti-Superhuman Society still remains, but has yet to gain the power seen in the alternate timeline, and is still something of a laughing stock.
