Purpose of the internship:

The internship supports the communications functions in the SSCO including supporting content development and distribution on digital channels, events and advocacy campaigns and visibility and branding requirements.Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Communications and direct supervision of the Communication Specialist and working closely with other communication staff in charge of Social Media and the Young Reporters Programme the intern will:

  • Assist in logging all social media posts into an Excel file using various columns, including programmatic themes and donors mentioned
  • Assist with managing comments on social media platforms.
  • Alert the supervisor on sensible reactions on social media platforms of UNICEF South Sudan
  • Support monitoring weekly statistics of the performance of the social media platforms using the platform analytics of UNICEF South Sudan
  • Assist in preparing social media content and posting content on social media platforms.
  • Follow the social media handles of UN sister agencies, donors and implementing partners and suggest actions.
  • Assist with coordinating the Young Reporters Activities in Juba and Field Offices and support content generation (social media posts, blogs and photography).
  • Prepare social media posts and content for the Young Reporters and other programmes

Requirements:

Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD degree programme or have graduated within the past two years in business or public administration, international law, international relations, social sciences, communication, or related fields.• Strong skills in social media and web-based platforms• Excellent reading and writing skills: Ability to synthesize articles, reports and programme information into communications material.• Good technical skills in basic MS Office applications.• Good Communication skills: Ability to work independently and work with various members of the organizations in technical programmes and field staff.• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.• Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.• Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and Have no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.

Additional Experience:• Additional consideration will be given for any past professional experience.Language Requirements:• Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Juba Arabic or other local languages is an asset.Medical Insurance:• Interns are required to provide proof of medical insurance before the beginning of the internship, valid for the entire internship duration and including provision for medical evacuation.
