From multiple NBA Championships to back-to-back league MVPs and more, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has accumulated quite the trophy room over his illustrious career. On Thursday, Curry added to his list of achievements after the NBA named him this season’s Clutch Player of the Year.

Curry led the league in multiple clutch statistics including points (189), field goals made (59), and free-throw percentage (95.1%). In an interview with TNT’s Inside the NBA following the announcement of his award, Curry says his keys to succeeding in clutch situations are his unwavering confidence and his ability to handle failure.

“I think what’s important to me is that our guys do it the right way,” said Kerr. “With dignity. With grace. I understand that we haven’t always done that.

“There have been moments where – with Draymond the incident with Jordan (Poole) last year. That’s not dignified. Obviously. The stuff that happened early in the season.”

Draymond Green is a polarizing figure around the league and even in Golden State. Ultimately, though, Kerr believes in the embattled veteran.

“So a part of my conversations with Draymond were ‘You owe it to yourself but also to the franchise to do this the right way. To go out competing as best you can. Be the best version of yourself. Lead the younger guys. Teach them what being a pro is about,’” Kerr recalled. “And he responded beautifully. In the whole second half of the season, I thought he was amazing. I thought he played well. I thought he handled himself well. Took on a leadership role. And it was fun to watch.”

This is not sudden. LeBron and the Lakers missed the playoffs in 2022 and snagged the No. 7 seed via the play-in tournament the last two seasons. Durant’s teams were a No. 7 seed (the Nets) in 2022, a four-seed (the Suns; he was acquired at midseason) in 2023 and climbed into the No. 6 seed on the last weekend of this season.

It’s conceivable that Durant and James will join Curry in the offseason much earlier than they anticipated. Such absences would be, um, loud. It’s OK to shed a tear. Or celebrate the tyros.

Understand, please, that Curry, Durant and James are not finished. Not quite. They are, however, on notice.

Not only did Joel Embiid set a playoff career high with 50 points to drag the Philadelphia 76ers back into their first-round series against the New York Knicks with a 125-114 victory in Game 3, but he did it while playing through Bell’s palsy, a condition that has affected the left side of his face.

“I think it started a day or two before the Miami game [in the play-in tournament], and I had bad migraines and thought it was nothing,” Embiid said after Thursday’s win. “It’s pretty annoying, you know, with the left side of my face, my mouth and my eye. So yeah, it’s been tough.

“But I’m not a quitter, so gotta keep fighting. But yeah, it’s unfortunate. That’s the way I look at it. But it’s not an excuse. Gotta keep pushing.”

The bright side is that Davis improved on his zero-point fourth quarter from Game 2. By three points.

As it turns out, the team that responded to a gut-punch loss in Game 2 by complaining about one missed call in the third quarter wasn’t quite ready to change anything against a fully functional defending champion.

Reason to root for them: We all wish we could watch Michael Jordan in the playoffs again. You might hate the Lakers, and you might even hate LeBron James, but there’s no denying how special it is to see a player of his caliber dial it up for the highest stakes. We won’t get the pleasure of watching it too many more times.

Reason to root against them: I mean ... it’s the Lakers. You get that, right?
